Located at the confluence of the Delaware and Christina rivers, this is a full-service deep-water port and marine terminal. The port handles more than 400 vessels and about 5 million tons of cargo annually.
Rail
Amtrak’s popular Acela and Metroliner trains, running between the nation’s capital and New York, stop in Wilmington with multiple departures daily. Wilmington’s station is the ninth-busiest passenger rail station in the Northeast and the 11th busiest in the country.
The Delaware Transit Corp. contracts with the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority to provide commuter rail service between Delaware and center-city Philadelphia. Two railroads provide cargo services: CSX and Norfolk Southern.
